Late last year Ilana received an exciting invitation from the directors of Taylor's Port to come to Oporto and the Douro valley in Northern Portugal to produce a series of paintings of the vineyards and estates of Crofts, Fonseca and Taylors.
Last November a wedding invitation brought Ilana to Guatemala. After the wedding right on the shore of the shimmering Lago Petén, Ilana travelled in the tropical North of the country and in the mountainous South West, fringed by dozens of volcanos. Some of the vibrant colours and architecture brought back evocative memories of her journeys through Mexico in the late 90's but there were many new scenes to explore and be inspired by.
Last year Ilana went to Rhodes and Symi for some new inspiration. It was a very successful trip and she spent the rest of the year painting hot and colourful Greek scenes.
Ilana found Crete both similar and different from other Greek islands. She fell in love with the charming old harbour of Chania and was inspired by the remote, steep mountain villages with vine covered houses and geraniums spilling from old oil drums.

A recent visit to the island of Mykonos in Greece, has brought Ilana back to the Cycladic architectutre she loves. Its been wonderfully inspiring. She has already created a series of small paintings and plans to spend the next few months immersed in Greek light.

Ilana's Moroccan pictures have been very popular - in fact just one original painting is still available, of a fabulous courtyard in Marrakesh.
A couple of trips to France inspired some evocative paintings of the tranquil Ile de Ré with its lovely white houses, blue shutters and its many bicycles, and the Dordogne's honey-coloured houses and vine-covered facades including Vine Terrace and Domme, which now also appear as limited edition prints.
A trip to Israel last year inspired some atmospheric paintings of the chapel on the Mount of Beatitudes, above the sea of Galilee and of the unreal turquoise of the Dead Sea.
A winter trip to Luxor inspired Ilana's paintings of the Nile. The graceful Feluccas gliding up and down the calm waters of the Nile are particularly delightful against the palm groves on the far bank at sunset.
